Comparing the Toyota Tacoma Review to the Toyota Tundra

A few months ago, Motor Trend Channel took us on a border to border tour in the Toyota Tundra. This week, Motor Trend is back, four-wheeling though Utah's five national parks in the new Toyota Tacoma.

You'll notice some differences in how these two review shows are set up. When testing the Toyota Tundra, the main goal was reaching off-roading destinations. We watched the Tundra kick up sand, ford river beds, and take on Moab, UT and the "Hell's Revenge" rock crawl trail.

This review of the Tacoma focuses more on the vehicle's prowess over rough…

Cows that Power Cars? Toyota Is Doing It

What do cows and cars have in common? If you guessed that cows can power cars, you’d be right.

How does that work?

Who would have imagined, even a generation ago, that technology would be advanced enough to allow for the extraction of hydrogen from something as mundane as cow manure? And who could have imagined using that hydrogen to power vehicles?

Do You Believe in Battery Life After Cars?

As Cher once sang, "I can feel something inside my hybrid say, I really don't think this battery is strong enough. Do you believe in battery life after cars?" Or... something like that.

Well, Cher may have had a point. Even after a hybrid car's battery is no longer strong enough to power it, that battery can still have more life left inside it.

Toyota takes advantage of this extra life by hooking up several hybrid batteries, all working together. When Yellowstone National Park needed an off-grid power solution, they looked to Toyota.

Toyota's New Suite of Sensible Safety Features

Ever wish you had an extra pair of eyes watching the road? No, not like your annoying aunt Suzan who panics over every parked car you pass, but more like a cybernetic extension of your own eyes?

Well, Toyota thinks that's a good idea too.

Toyota Tundra TRD Pro: The Best Off-Roading Has to Offer?

You're looking for a 4x4 to do some extreme off-roading. You've got a few names on your list, and one of them should be the Toyota Tundra TRD Pro.

Why We May One Day Look to the Lake for Fuel

The era of gasoline may soon be at an end, as companies like Toyota push for an emission-free future.

Hydrogen is considered an emission-free fuel, because when hydrogen in the vehicle's fuel cell reacts with oxygen in the air, it generates electricity while leaving nothing behind but pure water.

We can get hydrogen from the water, too.

Though the majority of hydrogen produced in the US today for industrial purposes is created via natural gas steam reformation, as a fuel-alternative, companies are looking into more sustainable ways to get pure hydrogen.

By running an electrical current

Drive 200,000 Miles, and Drive 200,000 More

We're getting a bit of a song stuck in our heads here. It goes:

I would drive 200,000 miles

And I would drive 200,000 more

Just to be the Prius that drove 400,000 miles

To break down at your door

Except, while we were re-writing this ballad for Bob Old's Toyota Prius, we forgot... it didn't break down after 400,000 miles. It's still going.

Bob Old lives in the UK... not too far from where The Proclaimers hail from. In 2004, he bought a Toyota Prius. He was looking for something with…
